Justin left for code change on Sunday and he's supposed to be coming home this upcoming Sunday. Surprisingly, the first part of the week has gone by relatively quickly, all things considered. On Tuesday and Thursday I went out to Charlie to visit him.

The drive out there was about an hour. It was quite honestly the most peaceful, relaxing drive I have been on in a really long time. I took my camera with me and documented the scenery. The pictures aren't great since I was driving but it's more just to give you an idea. The whole way out there I was behind this giant trailer. It's kinda bad to be driving behind something you can't see around since people pass all the time on the road, even if it's not a passing zone. So it was hard to tell if people were coming the other direction.

The weather was absolutely gorgeous. Sunny. About 70 degrees. Perfect for me (which was the main reason I loved living at Vandenberg).

All the railroad tracks follow the road out east from Great Falls.

Farm machinery on the side of the road in one of the two tiny towns on the way there. Typical Montana.

There are always things imprinted in the sides of the mountains, whether its a cross or the initials for the town. I think it has something to do with planes flying overhead.

Along with a million cows, there are beehives everywhere.

Mountains. Beautiful.

It's hard to tell, but there's still snow on the mountain tops out in the distance.

You have to take a slight detour while driving this way. Because of all the rain we have had the last few months the ground under the road gave way and created a huge sinkhole in the highway.

Here they are trying to repair the hillside so the road can be fixed and repaved.

On Wednesday, my friend Ira and I went to get our nails done. This is maybe the third time in my life I've paid someone to do my nails. But it was nice to get out of the house and spend time with my friend.

Welcome to the Jungle

The last few weeks have been pretty dull. Justin had 6 alerts in a row and stuff on his off days so he hasn't been home much. We've been having lots and lots of rain this summer. The other day it started hailing.

It's kind of hard to tell, but the hail was quite heavy, although it didn't last very long.

Fatty likes to watch out the window when anything happens: rain, hail, birds, bunnies.

He also likes to play baseball with Justin.

We've sort of been neglecting our yard for a number of reasons: Justin is gone all the time, neither of us actually enjoys gardening, and we don't have all the necessary machinery to keep it looking nice. However, when Justin's family was here, they got a us a weed-eater as a sort of housewarming gift. Last weekend, while Justin mowed, I trimmed the edges of the yard. Here is our jungle for a backyard:

Really shabby, I know. Now here's our nice trimmed yard:

I really like the weed-eater we got because it's not huge and heavy and it's also battery-powered which is better for the environment.
